I’m Calvin Richards, the owner and pitmaster of Bad Betty’s Barbecue. In 2016, I took a leap and opened this spot in downtown Helena, Montana. I wanted to bring real, no-nonsense barbecue to this city—something that felt as authentic as the joints I grew up loving. From Memphis to the Texas Hill Country, I learned that great barbecue is about patience, technique, and respect for the craft. That’s exactly what we do here.
